Part of the function of the group called Friends of Emma Barter Victoria Home is to run collection drives. If and when something is suggested to benefit the residents, we appeal to all group members to donate items.
Between February and March 2015 we collected toiletries. Members were asked to donate small items such as soap, shampoo, cream, razors, deodorant, powder, toothpaste, toothbrush. When we had enough, we made up packs and handed them out to the residents.
If you wish to drop off anything at the home, please leave the boxes at the admin office and mark them for the attention of Derek or Sally. We will then sort them, add them to other goods and see that the right people receive them.
We then found 10 hospital style beds with mattresses. We need foam mattresses for these beds (so they can bend when the bed is raised). Any help will be appreciated.
The present appeal is for pillows, blankets, coat hangers, books and reading glasses etc. A few cowboy books (Westerns) have been requested.
The home also needs a windy drier or retractable clothes line if anyone can help.
There is a drive on for reading glasses. Any old unused specs lying around will help some of the elderly folks to see better and then maybe they will be able to read again. Some residents need glasses but can't afford them and others have lost their glasses. All sizes and strengths will be most welcome.
